MainStage Irving-Las Colinas announces auditions for their upcoming production of A Picasso
A Historical Drama by Jeffrey Hatcher

Audition Dates /Â Times:
Saturday: June 20th 2:00-5:00PM
Auditions will be by appointment and will be cold readings from the script. The rehearsal schedule will be set based on actor availability, but the director anticipates Monday/Tuesday/Thursday evenings and Saturday/Sunday during the day.
Video auditions are accepted. Video auditions are due by June 20th at 4:00PM and should be sent to lindseyehumphries@gmail.com (Google Drive, Dropbox, or Youtube link preferred)
Rehearsals will begin promptly after casting.

Sides will be provided in advance of the audition to all those who have requested an audition appointment.

CHARACTERS
Pablo Picasso (male, playable age approx. 60) The famous artist- picked up off the streets by Nazis for interrogation. He views his paintings as his children and is desperate to save them. Picasso takes an introspective journey through his past as he views the seized works. An intelligent man, he strives to stay one step ahead of Miss Fischer.
Miss Fischer (female, playable age 30-55) A 'cultural attache' from Germany, Miss Fischer is an art lover turned Nazi supporter and critic. She once loved Picasso's work- now, she believes destroying it is necessary for her own cause, including the survival of herself and her family. She does not underestimate her opponent and is constantly working to achieve her goals despite Picasso's unwillingness to cooperate. German accent needed (slight)
ABOUT THE SHOW
Paris, 1941. Pablo Picasso has been summoned from his favorite café to be interrogated by German occupation forces in a storage vault across the city. A cat-and-mouse drama about art, politics, sex and truth, with a twist at its climax.

COMPENSATION
Actors receive a gas stipend and comp tickets.
